The CDSTT Academic Panel of Spring 2019 will discuss the issues of trade and intellectual property disputes between China and the United States, China Economic Reforms, and the status of American corporations operating in China.
The panel will discuss about the reality of China’s alleged practice of forced intellectual property transference. The panelists shall discuss whether or not and to what extent is China “forcing” American companies to give up their intellectual properties. The panel will also focus on the legitimacy of such criticism considering the progress China has made to protect intellectual property and the interest of foreign businesses as a developing country.
Considering the increasingly evident structural conflicts between the two countries, the panel shall address the question regarding the political purpose of the Trump administration behind its orchestration of the high-profile trade conflict with China.
