Who we are

In the spring of 2015, in order to expand the international popularity of CDSTT and increase the participation of young people, China Development Forum established the China Development Student Think Tank (CDSTT) in Syracuse University. Since its establishment, CDSTT has been cooperating with a number of American think tanks, associations, and university student organizations. CDSTT also invites US politicians and scholars to partner with CDSTT, such as the US Congressional Research Service US-China Trade experts, former US Deputy Secretary of State, and former UN Security Council Under-Secretary-General. The partnership provides intelligent support and professional advice on CDSTT’s projects and academic/career developments of its members. CDSTT is committed to providing a pure, professional, thought-provoking, and practical academic exchange platform for students who are interested in China's development, Sino-US relations, and the academic exchanges between China and the United States.
The CDSTT (The George Washington University Branch has been formally established in 2017. Often described as “the most politically active school in the US”, The George Washington University is located in central Washington DC, the capital of the United States. Enjoying its geographical advantages, CDSTT combines GWU's resources with resources of other academic and international organizations that focus on politics, economics, and other social science topics to carry out academic projects.

What are we doing?

Academic Activities: Online Discussions
In order to strengthen international academic exchanges and research, CDSTT regularly invites professional scholars and industry leaders from all over the world to discuss social phenomena and analyze current social trends with students from different perspectives based on different political and cultural backgrounds.

Academic Activities: Offline Discussion Panels
The abundance of offline activities elevates CDSTT's reputation at home and abroad. Using the resources of CDSTT’s headquarters and branches, each branch invites political and economic leaders as well as academic authorities from China and the United States to participate in lecture events as guest speakers, to conduct academic exchanges with students, and to express views on current global issues.

Career Development: Young Talent Meetings with the Shenzhen Municipal Committee
CDSTT takes root in China and is actively searching for international cooperations as well. In addition to academic activities, CDSTT uses its resources to facilitate overseas students in finding internships and employment opportunities. CDSTT organizes annual exchanges with the Shenzhen Municipal Government. During the event, the members of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee introduce the recruitment policies and application processes for overseas students in Shenzhen.

Career Development: Summer Internship Programs
the student think tank organizes and plans an internship project to attract more outstanding overseas students to return to China and develop their academic careers. Current internship sites include Chongyang Institute of Finance, National and Strategic Development Research Institute, Central Bank Green Finance Committee, China Welfare Foundation, and other state-level institutions across the government, finance, academia, and public welfare. Students participate in organizations’ annual key research projects and can get hands-on experiences to practice their knowledge during these projects. There are also opportunities for the students to start annual research projects under the guidance of experts and scholars. An internship certificate will be provided at the end of the program and students often get recommendation letters from senior members of the internship institutions. CDSTT hope that, through these projects, members can explore different options for their career developments after returning to China, build personal connections, and produce real impacts in our society.
