Introduction of the Institution and Internship Experience
In the summer of 2018, several students passed the selection and stood out among numerous amounts of applicants. They thus got the opportunity to work as the research intern of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies through the internship program of CDSTT. Their research was mainly focused on academic projects related to international finance and international relations, and they also kept tracing various kinds of international and domestic hot topics.
Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China was established on January 19, 2013. It is one of the most well-known private think tanks in China. As one of the youngest think tanks in China, it had frequently produced high-quality academic papers in the past five years. It was also ranked among the "Top 150 Think Tanks in the World” for three consecutive years, by the “Global Think Tank Report” of the University of Pennsylvania.
At present, the research directions of “Chongyang Institute" are mainly international finance, international affairs, etc., and it is also researching on the topics related to the achievements of the Reform and Opening-Up Policy, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the China - Africa relations. The Institute also cooperates with well-known think tanks in Europe and the United States, to learn the strengths of Western think tanks in order to improve the academic level and international popularity of domestic private think tanks.
According to CDSTT's interview with participants of the internship program Yang Xi and Ye Jingkai in Fall 2018, both of them said that they felt especially grateful and cherish this internship opportunity. Each single day Yang and Ye spent in Chongyang Institute was fulfilling and satisfying. They learned and absorbed a lot of practical skills and knowledges that they would never be able to learn from the classroom.
Through continuous efforts and communication with the tutor, both students successfully participated in the important researches such as the “China-Africa Forum”, “One Belt and One Road” and “BRIC Countries”. They also had a deeper understanding on operation methods of domestic private think tanks.
